mistake-free on offense, which is their rec-
ipe for success.
The hero of the upset was redshirt fresh-
man safety Godwin Igwebuike, who made
three red zone interceptions in his first ca-
reer start with fifth-year senior safety Ibra-
heim Campbell out with a hamstring injury.
Igwebuike has started four games in a row
with All-Big Ten honorable mention pick
Campbell still out.
The secondary also returned redshirt ju-
nior cornerback Nick VanHoose, who is in
his third year as a starter and has five career
interceptions with an additional 24 pass
breakups. He has provided stability despite
a rotating cast of players around him on the
backline.
Perhaps the Cats' most crucial defensive
cog resides in the middle with weakside
linebacker Chi Chi Ariguzo. The fifth-year
senior is a two-time all-conference honor-
able mention pick and was the Big Ten's
top returning tackler this fall. He current-
ly paces the squad with 72 stops and has
helped keep the unit afloat after an injury to
senior middle linebacker Collin Ellis, who
has missed three of the last five games.
Up front, Northwestern is led by a group
of defensive ends that are heavily rotat-
ed. The most dangerous is sophomore If-
eadi Odenigbo, who forced three fumbles
against Western Illinois earlier this season
and has 8.5 career sacks, but just 17 tackles.
Iowa torched the unit for 483 yards in a
48-7 drumming last weekend, and that was
the most surprising thing about the lopsid-
