GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 10 • 27 BY KYLE CHARTERS KCharters@GoldandBlack.com T wo weeks and two big plays for Rob Ninkovich. A week after having a fumble recovery for a touchdown in a win over Chicago, the New England defensive end had an inter- ception of Peyton Manning that led to Pa- triot points. "That was a huge play," Bill Belichick told the Providence Journal after the 43-21 win over Denver. "We had pres- sure up the middle, and Rob dropped out. It was a combination of team defense: pressure and coverage. Rob has great instinctiveness for find- ing the ball. He's just got that sixth sense of get- ting the ball." Ninkovich is put- ting together another great season for New England, with four sacks, the fumble recovery and an interception, with 35 tackles. The pick of Manning might have been the play of the season for New England so far. "I've got to play better. When the quar- terback stinks, usually you're not going to win too many games," Manning told the paper. "I can't make that throw. It was bad, bad football right there by me." ORTON FINDS HOME? The way Kyle Orton has played his first four games of the season, Buffalo might want to keep him around for a while. Orton has a 104.0 QB rating in his four starts, leading the Bills to three wins and giving them a shot at the playoffs. Signed following training camp, Orton is making $5.5 million this season for Buffalo, with a player option for 2015. But might Buffalo want him longer? Orton, 31, is 38-36 as an NFL starter, having stints with Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Dallas and now Buffalo. And he could still have good football years left. "I don't think that's out of the ques - tion at all," Bills coach Doug Marrone told WGRZ.com. "When you look at the quar- terbacks now, at 31, at 37 or 35, I think it's difficult to put a limit on when it's going to end." GASTON RELEASED, SIGNED Rookie Bruce Gaston had a busy week, first being released from the Cardinals' 53-man roster, then being signed to their practice squad. Arizona had to juggle its roster due to injuries, a shift that affected Gaston. The undrafted rookie spent four weeks on the Cardinals' 53-man but was inactive for each game. j Ninkovich Comes Up Big Again New England Patriots Rob Ninkovich's interception of Peyton Manning on Sunday turned the tide toward the Patriots.
