IntelliGym Trains Hockey Sense "Game shape" does not just refer to the physical aspects of the sport, such as speed, agility or stamina. It also refers to one's ability to keep up in the mental aspects of the game, including read- and-react situations, play development recognition, and communication. The Hockey IntelliGym helps young players boost this so-called "hockey sense." The software-based cognitive trainer is based on technology originally developed for fighter pilots in Israel. In 2008, the technology was adapted to the sport of hockey with help from USA Hockey. Currently, more than 10,000 players use the IntelliGym and all of its features, including its adaptive technology that makes the game more difficult as the user progresses; and a tracking system that allows users to input their on-ice statistics to monitor their improvement. National Dizzy and Balance Center Offers BNA Testing Concussions continue to be a concerning topic throughout all sports. Minnesota Hockey and the National Dizzy and Balance Center (NDBC) recognize the importance of being on the forefront of educating parents, coaches and players about the latest in concussion management. The most recent development in the assessment of brain function is the Brain Network Activity (BNA) Analysis System. BNA utilizes non-invasive EEG technology with sophisticated signal processing and analysis to measure brain activity and patterns. This provides clinicians with an objective assessment and robust database to use while identifying and managing concussions that far exceed what baseline tests have previously provided. The FDA approved BNA testing for 14- to 24-year-olds in August 2014, and NDBC is one of the first clinics in the metro to offer this new technology. Minnesota Hockey Hard Divider Program The Minnesota Hockey Hard Divider Program, presented by Rink Systems Inc., is once again offering associations a one-time $2,500 subsidy to purchase a "hard divider" system for the 2014-15 season. The Hard Divider Program is designed to promote the growth of our community-based associations through the implementation of cross-ice hockey. "We couldn't be more pleased with how successful the partnership with Rink Systems was during the 2013-14 season," said Dave Margenau, President of Minnesota Hockey. "To see 20 associations take advantage of the subsidy and use them to host cross- and half-ice tournaments at the Mite/8U Girls level was exciting to see." Associations who took part in the program last season are once again eligible this season if they would like to purchase a second set of boards. New this season, Rink Systems will also offer mini-nets at a discounted rate for programs that take advantage of the Hard Divider Program subsidy.
