But with complete packages and turnkey equipment options, the first step can be that much smoother. For more on the startup equipment options featured here, see supplier's website and telephone number following each showcased product. Printer/cutter package Stahls' Equipment offers the Roland VersaStudio BN-20 inkjet printer/cutter package. The BN-20 was developed to provide custom print/cut jobs on de- mand. This unit can create graphics for a variety of fabrics including nylon, spandex, and leather as well as a wide range of indoor and outdoor graphics. The 20" desktop printer comes in one of three options. The metallic silver option allows users to print text and special effects in metallic hues and pearlescent colors. The white option can be used for creating underbases while the magenta option can be used to boost spot color. The compatible Eco-Sol Max solvent inks dry fast, offer a wide color gamut, and are also GREENGUARD certified. They are virtually odorless and do not require any special ventilation or environ- mental equipment, according to company literature. The BN-20 is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP operating systems and supports popular Windows design software including CorelDRAW and Adobe Illustrator. It has a USB interface. Training and remote installation are included with the package. 800-478-2457 Inkjet printers JDS Industries Inc. offers Ricoh inkjet printers for sublimation. The Ricoh printers employ gel ink technology. The gel ink is said to be more resistant to drying out than water-based inks. This resistance means that the printheads are less prone to clogging. The gel ink also allows the printer to print transfer sheets at a maximum 29 pages per minute. Additionally, Ricoh printers are designed to do much of their own maintenance including cycling the printheads to help clear them even if the machine is not running every day. The printers have four cartridges, which produce a maximum resolution of 3,600 X 1,200 dpi. 800-843-8853 Embroidery package The Tajima TUMX Start Smart package, with the newly released DG15 software, from Hirsh International includes a machine, stand, hoops, cap system, and embroidery supplies, which includes thread, bobbins, needles, stabilizers, and more. Online webinar software training is included and on-site machine training is also available. The TUMX single head has unrestricted sides so it can accommodate apparel and pro- motional merchandise that will not fit under traditional compact embroidery machines. It additionally has a large tubular embroidery space of 14" X 19.5" for easier decoration of difficult or large jobs. The TUMX comes fully assembled, threaded, and ready to sew out of the box. Buyers also receive unlimited toll-free technical support for the length of ownership. 800-394-4426
