INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS MICHIGAN'S TOP OLYMPIC SPORTS PERFORMERS Men's cross country redshirt sophomore George Kelly: On Oct. 28, he was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week after a runner-up finish at the EMU Fall Classic Oct. 24. The non-scoring 5K race featured a field of 104 runners, and Kelly's time of 15:03.2 paced the Wolverines in the event and was the best among all collegians. Hockey freshman forward Dylan Larkin: He was named the Big Ten's Second Star of the Week Oct. 28. Larkin earned his first Big Ten weekly award after a big weekend in Massachusetts, when he recorded six points (a goal and five assists) against UMass Lowell and Boston University — his first points in a Michi- gan uniform. Men's soccer redshirt junior midfielder Colin McAtee: He was tabbed as a first-team All-Big Ten performer on the heels of a breakout season in which he earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors twice. McAtee led the team with eight goals, which ranked third in the conference, and 18 points, which ranked fourth. He scored the only hat trick by a Big Ten player this season. He is the 11th Wolverine to earn Ten first-team All- Big honors in program history. Fifth-year senior Tyler Arnone received second-team accolades, and freshmen Billy Stevens and Ahinga Selemani were named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Men's freshman swimmer Evan White: He was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Nov. 11 after a strong debut for the No. 1-ranked Wolverines. White won his first two collegiate events, taking first in both the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard butterfly against Penn State and Virginia. He is ranked fourth and eighth nationally in those events, respectively. Women's cross country redshirt freshman Jaimie Phelan: She was named Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Week Oct. 28. Phelan earned the honor after a runner-up finish for the No. 8 Wolverines in the 5,000 meter race at the EMU Fall Classic Oct. 24. Women's soccer sophomore forward Nicky Waldeck: She was named to the All-Big Ten first team after an outstanding season in her sophomore year. Waldeck finished second in regular-season Big Ten competition in points with 20 and in goals with eight.
