the bigger, more physical lines of the Big Ten. They have beat some teams with their speed, but I think they have also lost some games because of the matchup up front." "We know that it takes a physical toll week-in and week-out," head coach Ran- dy Edsall added. "Hopefully we can hold up these last two weeks, from a health standpoint. It's one of those things where you're going against very good players and coaches each week." Greene noted that the switch has helped the football program in every aspect, in- cluding recruiting, exposure and, most importantly for the financially strapped Terps, league-contributed money. "The change is so big," he explained, "that they're almost trying to make Mary- land a football school again, whereas now it is still kind of a basketball school." Maryland has already clinched bowl el- igibility, thanks to its defense. The starting front seven is all seniors, and while the defensive front is not big, it is pro- ductive. Led by undersized star end Andre Monroe, the trio has combined for 65.5 ca- reer tackles for loss, including 33.5 sacks. Maryland notes: The Terrapins out- scored their non-conference oppo- nents, 147-84, but the group included just two squads with winning records, one of which is FCS competitor James Madison … In the first season of Big Ten play, Maryland has been outscored 206-141 by league foes … Maryland has won six of its last seven road contests, dating back to last season, and stands 4-1 away from College Park this year … The only other Big Ten squad with four road wins is Ohio State … The Terps overcame fourth-quarter deficits on the road against USF (three points) and Penn State (nine) to earn the victories.
