two weeks ago … He also carried the ball twice for 14 yards … He did throw just his fourth interception of the season in the game… In an upset, Malzone and his Brother Rice Warriors lost to Warren DeLa- Salle last week, 26-21, in the quarterfinals of the Michigan Division 2 state playoffs … Malzone went 23-of-41 passing for 252 yards with three touchdown throws and an interception in the loss … Malzone finished the year 211-of-325 passing for 2,998 yards, 38 touchdowns and just five interceptions … He also added two rush- ing touchdowns and led his team to an 11-1 overall record but failed to deliver a fourth straight state title. Grant Newsome: Two weeks ago, Newsome helped his offense put up vid- eo-game-type numbers, amassing 298 yards rushing and another 453 through the air … His team posted 49 points on the scoreboard, and he helped anchor the defense, holding Hill School to just 26 points … A big 21-point fourth quarter helped his Big Red get over the .500 mark to end the season at 5-4 overall. Jon Runyan Jr.: Two weeks ago, Runyan and his offensive linemates paved the way for the Hawks' skill play- ers to put 49 points on the board in a 49-7 win over Father Judge in the first round of the Pennsylvania AAAA playoffs … Last weekend the Hawks won again, defeating La Salle College 46-13. Mike Weber: Weber carried the ball 23 times for 150 yards and three touch- downs, including the game winner with 1:27 left in regulation, to help lead Cass Tech to a 28-21 victory over Dearborn Fordson in the second round of the Michigan Division I state playoffs … Last week, in a 48-35 win over Chippewa Val- ley, Weber ran 32 times for 404 yards and five touchdowns … Cass Tech remains undefeated at 12-0 in large part due to Weber's 2,046 yards and 28 touchdowns on the year. Messiah deWeaver (2016): deWeaver went 8-of-9 passing for 91 yards and two touchdowns in a 55-13 beating of West- ern Brown in the opening round of the Ohio Division 3 state playoffs two week- ends ago … deWeaver also ran the ball just once for an additional eight yards … Last week, he had another strong perfor- mance in a 41-6 win over Bellbrook … The junior QB went 5-of-14 passing for 207 yards, a touchdown and an intercep- tion … He also carried the ball 11 times for 51 yards and another score in the win. Dele' Harding (2016): Harding notched eight tackles in a 41-14 losing effort against St. Peter's Prep (N.J.) … Harding finished the year with 75 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, 1.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Erik Swenson (2016): Swenson's junior season came to an end three weeks ago with a Illinois Class 8A first-round state playoff loss to Simeon, 28-7 … Swenson had 130 confirmed pancake blocks on the year and never gave up a sack … The Mustangs finished their season at 6-4 overall. ❑  FOOTBALL RECRUITING
