GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 11 • 16 Quarterback 1. Austin Appleby 12 6-5, 229, So. 99-of-189 passing, 1,075 yds, 8 TDs / 6 int.* 46 rushes, 170 yards, 5 TDs* Hard to evaluate Appleby based on his performance alone. He was consistently under pressure, forcing him to escape the pocket, at least when he could. And his receivers aren't always providing much help either. 2. Danny Etling 5 6-2, 218, So. Wide Receiver 1. Trae Hart 5-10, 157, Fr. 3 rec., 51 yards* Hart's inexperienced, but Purdue likes his motor and ability, due to quickness, to get off the line of scrimmage. He had a couple catches for 39 yards, including a 31-yarder in which he made a nice adjustment to get back to the ball. 2. Myles Norwood 6 6-0, 172, R-Fr. Center 1. Robert Kugler 57 6-3, 298, Jr. Purdue had protection issues all game, more than just the four sacks allowed. Appleby was too frequently forced to rush from the pocket. Part of those issues are on Kugler, who is at least partially responsible for setting up blocking schemes. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Right Guard 1. Jordan Roos 70 6-4, 312, So. On one of their sacks, the Badgers overloaded the interior, forcing Roos to lunge at the last moment to try to slow down the extra rusher. He failed and Appleby was dropped. 2. Corey Clements 71 6-8, 400, Jr. Right Tackle 1. J.J. Prince 73 6-6, 302, So. Cermin allowed a sack on a speed rush off the right side. But more concerning this week is the health of the two right tackles: Prince has bat- tered shoulders, while Cermin has a groin injury. Jason Tretter and Jack DeBoef have been getting practice reps. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Wide Receiver 1. Cameron Posey 18 6-1, 182, So.* 12 rec., 125 yards, 1 TD* Purdue would like Posey more involved, especially since he's playing at Danny Anthrop's position, but he had only a catch for eight yards against Wisconsin. Macarthy could get more snaps here vs. Northwestern. 2. Shane Mikesky 87 6-4, 215, Jr. Wide Receiver 1. Gregory Phillips 13 6-0, 190, Fr. 5 rec., 71 yards* The Boilermakers have made a switch at the X receiver spot, dropping Yancey into a back- up role. It came after his drop on a lazy route in the first half vs. UW. Phillips was Purdue's most-targeted receiver, but finished with only a couple receptions. 2. DeAngelo Yancey 7 6-2, 218, So. Tight End 1. Gabe Holmes 86 6-5, 258, Sr. 12 rec., 123 yards, 2 TDs* Holmes had a couple nice catches against Wisconsin, going low to scoop one up, then having an 18-yarder on a QB scramble toward the end of the first half. No. 3 tight end Dolapo Macarthy could factor in this week as an inside receiver. 2. Justin Sinz 84 6-4, 249, Sr. (5) Left Tackle 1. David Hedelin 75 6-4, 295, Jr. Hedelin struggled mightily – Purdue as a whole did – in slowing Wisconsin's speed rushers. The left tackle was beaten to the outside once, allowing a sack, then failed to react well to a stunt, getting beaten inside. 2. Cameron Cermin 66 6-5, 303, So. Left Guard 1. Jason King 72 6-3, 309, So. King was called for a hold that wiped out an Austin Appleby rush for a first down late in the first quarter. Soon after, Purdue was forced to punt. 2. Jason Tretter 76 6-6, 304, R-Fr. SPECIAL TEAMS OFFENSE VS Northwestern Defense DE 13 Deonte Gibson 6-3, 270, Jr. 7 Ifeadi Odenigbo 6-3, 240, So. Akeem Hunt 1 5-9, 183, Sr. 134 rushes, 718 yards, 5 TDs* 36 rec., 198 yards* Purdue couldn't rush much against the Badgers, with Hunt netting only 12 yards on nine carries. His best was a fumble that Wisconsin incorrectly thought was an incomplete forward pass. It went for 16 yards. But Hunt also had a 79-yard touchdown reception in the second half. 2. Raheem Mostert 8 5-11, 190, Sr.
