GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 11 • 31 that often features four receivers. The Boilermakers haven't played much with an extra defensive back in the last three weeks, but it'd likely be Leroy Clark who joins the mix in that package. It's Clark who's benched in place of Williams. FIRST TIMER For the first time this season, Purdue had a player earn the Big Ten's weekly honor as a Player-of- the-Week. Junior kicker Paul Griggs got the special teams award after going 3-for-3 on field goals against Wisconsin, including making a pair of 50-plus-yarders. Griggs was the first kicker in Purdue history to have two 50-yarders — he made from 52 and 53 — in a game. He has three from plus-50 this season, also a first time feat for a Boilermaker. After making 10-of-19 field goals in his first two seasons, Griggs is 13-of-15 in 2014. "The biggest difference is preparation," Griggs said after Pur - due's loss to Wisconsin. "Probably the first two years, I thought I knew what it was going to take to be a good kicker at this level. But having that time to realize, to figure out, what that really means, both men- tally and physically, and getting to the point where I can execute to my ability level in game, that's the important part. "I thought I was there last year, going through the offseason and in camp, even during practices, but on Saturdays, it wasn't there, wasn't clicking. That's one thing I had a big emphasis on this last offseason, I wanted to do everything I could to help contribute to this team." MORE THAN FOOTBALL Three offensive players are eligible for academic All-America honors after senior tight end Justin Sinz, junior center Robert Kugler and sophomore right tackle J.J. Prince were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District V team. Sinz, a captain, graduated in August with a 3.63 GPA in health and Kinesiology. He's currently in grad school studying sports man - agement. He's been academic All- Big Ten three times. Kugler, a captain, is a two-time All-Big Ten academic honoree with a 3.86 GPA in a double major of po- litical science and honors history. Prince is on target to graduate already in December — five se- mesters prior to his eligibility expir- ing. He has a 3.93 GPA in econom- ics and has been on the dean's list the last four semesters.
