ALBUM OF THE MONTH
BIRTHDAY CLUB EP - SHY NATURE
TRACK OF THE MONTH
DEERS - CASTIGADAS EN
EL GRANERO
Formed in early 2013,
London based trio Shy
Nature are about to have
a busy few months. Their
first EP, 2013's self-titled
Shy Nature, was warmly
received and this month
marked the release of their
follow-up EP, Birthday Club.
Compared to Mystery Jets,
beneath the pacey rock
sound there is a certain
wistfulness to their music,
most notably in the first
track, 'Birthday Club'.
'Birthday Club' is the second EP from
the London based trio, Shy Nature.
Deers is a Spanish quartet
who have only formed last
year and already have a
solid fan-base. The song
itself translates roughly
as 'Punished In The Barn'
and everything about it
feels rough, but in a good
way. There is definitely a
distant, whimsy, 60s feel
to the track. That, and the
unfiltered energy of the
girls together make for one
excellent catchy track.
A funky, whimsy pastiche of the 60s is
our track of the month!
Sam Smith is having one hell of a year. His debut album,
In The Lonely Hour, reached number one in the UK charts
and number 2 in the US. He had three top five singles. He
won four MOBOs this year. However November may prove
to be his best month yet. His song, 'Like I Can' is in the top
ten on the iTunes charts and will be released as a single
on 7th December. There are also rumours suggesting that
Smith has been chosen over Lana Del Rey to perform the
James Bond theme for the upcoming film.
