HARVEY NICHOLS FIGHT TO PROTECT THEIR NEW
PRO-FUR POLICY
The world famous department store
seeks to legally restrict anti-fur
protests outside its doors.
In 2004, Harvey Nichols
stopped selling fur prod-
ucts following challenging
campaigns. However, last
month the "ethically
sourced and humanely
framed" clothes were on
the shelves once again.
This triggered a surge of
animal rights activity that
probably prompted the
resignation of Fashion Di-
rector, Paula Reed in Octo-
ber. Under Reed, fox, rab-
bit and raccoon trimmed
apparel returned and was
promptly bombarded by
over 5000 complaints via
email and social media
platforms.
Harvey Nichols is now
seeking an injunction to
keep demonstrators away
from its doors (50m away
to be exact) in an effort to
protect their staff and cus-
tomers.
This is particularly aimed
at a dominant group called
"Heartless Harvey Nich-
ols", who assert that their
campaigns have always
been "peaceful and consti-
tutional".
Nevertheless, whatever
evidence results to be true,
we wonder what new im-
age Harvey Nichols is now
seeking to promote.
