46 COMMERCIAL CARRIER JOURNAL | DECEMBER 2014 H ow your equipment looks says a lot about your company. Image-conscious fl eets know that smart, sophisticated tractor-trailer graphics can help them stand out in a crowd of dingy, dirty and dated trucks and send a message of profes- sionalism to shippers, receivers and the motoring public. Since 1978, Commercial Carrier Journal has recognized excellence in fl eet graphics design and execution. The judges for this year's competi- tion included the editorial and art design staffs from CCJ and sister publications Successful Dealer and Truck Parts & Service, as well as art staff from Equipment World. Each judge ranked their top 10 out of more than 40 submissions, and scores were weighted to determine a fi nal ranking. Here are this year's Five Flashiest Fleets that stood out above the crowd with evocative and enticing imagery that help propel the story of the fl eet's brand or services. **Be sure to visit ccjdigital.com/5ff to see all of the entries from this year and to vote for your favorites in our second annual Five Flashiest Fleets Readers' Choice contest. CCJ 's 2014 Five Flashiest Fleets winn ers shine with clean, vibrant and nostalgic concepts BY JEFF CRISSEY SAY IT WITH FLOWERS Carrier: Rosa Flora Limited Graphics designer: Reimer Graphics R osa Flora's plant nursery operation contains 1.5 million square feet of state-of-the-art greenhouses, and it takes a lot of expertise and management to get fresh-cut and potted flowers to wholesalers on time and undamaged. The company recently lost 13 trucks due to a fire and took the opportunity to freshen up its truck wrap design and marketing message when purchas- ing new equipment. "In the design, we want to highlight the fact that we are a grower and that we grow fresh-cut gerbera, alstroemeria, snapdragons and lisianthus," says Rosa Flora's Arielle DeBoer. "We have a beautiful product to sell and are willing to invest what it takes to showcase our fl owers as we travel on our delivery routes." Why we liked it: "Who doesn't love bright and beautiful blooms? And the company's colorful fl eet takes full advantage, from the side panel graphics to the rear door's 3-D trompe l'oeil that looks just like what's in the reefer box: a truck full of fl owers headed straight from the farm to fresh-cut wholesale distributors. The graphics are also a reminder to those of us who tend to only think of fl owers for our sweethearts once a year — especially if the loved one happens to be riding along when you're behind a Rosa Flora truck." – Kevin Jones, CCJ senior editor IN THE SPOTLIGHT
