going to face."
After its meet against Chatta-
nooga, Purdue will travel to Mari-
etta, Ga., to take on North Carolina.
Purdue was originally scheduled
to wrestle North Carolina at Chat-
tanooga, but the team couldn't
travel Friday due to final exams.
The teams will wrestle at Kell High
School Saturday after North Caro-
lina flies into Atlanta.
"It's a bit of an unusual situ-
ation, but since we were coming
down to face Chattanooga we
didn't want to lose the dual meet
with UNC because of finals," Er-
sland said. "The easiest thing for us
to do was to meet them part way
as they were going to flight
into Atlanta and find a high
school to do the dual meet."
Purdue is familiar with
the Tar Heels after wres-
tling against them in several
weight classes in the Road-
runner Open to start the sea-
son. Purdue finished with 11
placewinners in the tourna-
ment to North Carolina's six.
"You have to be ready to
compete and compete hard
and perform the way you can
perform. We ran into (North
Carolina) a couple times in
California," Ersland said. "UNC
has some good kids and we
expect them to fight hard."
Ersland said he is ready
to see how Purdue handles
the pair of tough dual meets
and the uber-competitive
Midlands Championships at
Northwestern on Dec. 29-30.
"You want to keep seeing
them progressing," Ersland
said. "You want to see that
consistency out of them. I
think we're getting the focus
and intensity that we've talk
-
ed about." j
