GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 14 • 7 Anthony Ma- houngo: A native of France who's only played one season of junior college football in the U.S., the 6-4, 200-plus-pound wide receiver will come to Purdue mid-year with three years of eligibility, as opposed to the usu- al two for J.C. players. "I'm a tall receiver and kind of fast," he said. "You can put me out by myself to play one-on-one against a corner and I can dominate, I think." Chazmyn Turner: Purdue's sec- ond defensive end commitment from North Carolina, odd considering the Boilermaker program has only spot-recruited the state historically, the 6-5, 240-pound Turner could also fill the Boilermakers' rush end posi- tion. He committed to Purdue over Virginia and East Carolina offers. Purdue also host- ed junior college tight end Cole Hikutini, who has not commit- ted yet but is intent to play out state and potential national championship games for his JUCO before making a college de- cision. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound receiving- oriented tight end will very likely join the class. The Boilermaker coaching staff also brought in Florida defensive back Jessie Liptrot for a visit. The Jacksonville native also claims of- fers from Wisconsin and Louisville among others. Prior commitments Matt Mc- Cann, Richard Worship, Tario Full- er, Markus Bailey and Wyatt Cook also made their official visits last weekend. THIS WEEKEND'S VISITS Purdue will host 15-plus visitors this weekend. Some on the docket include Wisconsin defensive lineman Rob- ert Windsor, Florida safety Antonyo Sotolongo, Tennessee tight end Bry- cen Hopkins, California wide receiver Octavius Spencer and junior college tight end and Arizona State commit- ment Raymond Epps. Commitments Elijah Sindelar, Markell Jones, Andy Chelf, Twazanga Mugala, Peyton Truitt, Sawyer Daw- son, Ben Makowski and Joe Schop- per are also scheduled. FOOTBALL RECRUITING NOTEBOOK R Two Purdue commitments landed significant acclaim, as Sinde- lar and Jones earned Gatorade Play- er-of-the-Year honors in Kentucky and Indiana, respectively. It would suggest that Sindelar (quarterback) and Jones (running back) would also have great chances to be named their states' Mr. Football winners, as well. R Ke'Shawn Vaughn, one of the most sought-after uncommitted running back recruits in the country, has cut his list to three, per his Twit- ter account, with Purdue joining Ohio State and Louisville as final contenders. That means Vaughn, who offi- cially visited West Lafayette in Octo- ber, chopped the likes of Tennessee, Kentucky, Wisconsin and home- town Vanderbilt, all of which had of- fered him. COMMITMENT TRACKER R Chelf: Southlake (Texas) Car- roll saw its season end in a 62-42 loss to Cedar Hill. Chelf made five tackles before hurting his knee and miss- ing the majority of the game. The injury has not yet been diagnosed, but Chelf said he hopes it is simply a "sprain." R Cornerback Isaac Warren: John Tyler High School beat McKin- ney North 64-40 to move on in the Texas playoffs. Warren made four tackles. R Florida linebacker/defensive end Tim Faison: Tallahassee Godby beat Suwannee 48-14 on its way to Florida's 5A state final this weekend. Faison made three tackles. HOOPS RECRUIT TRACKER S Signee Ryan Cline scored 34 and 23, respectively, in Carmel High School's wins over Lawrence Central and Avon, respectively. S Fellow signee Grant Weath- erford is averaging 14.3 points, five assists, four rebounds and nearly three steals for 2-2 Hamilton Heights, but is coming off a 1-of-11 game in a loss to North Central. Walker is averaging 17.5 points and 3.5 assists for rebuilt Indianapo- lis Arsenal Tech, which is 2-2. j Safety Antonyo Sotolongo will be one of around 15 visitors at Purdue this coming weekend. underwoodagency.com Our Knowledge is Your Best Insurance ISU Insurance Services Underwood Agency Lafayette Office 3990 State Road 38 East, Suite 5A Lafayette, Indiana 47905 (765) 742-7320 800-852-5447 Columbus Office Jay Neeb 8011 S 100 W Columbus, IN 47201 (812) 342-8201 Established 1865 ® Craig W.
