The NBA MITCH MCGARY STILL WAITING FOR HIS OPPORTUNITY FOLLOWING INJURY The Oklahoma City Thunder re- called forward Mitch McGary, the team's first-round pick, from the Okla- homa City Blue of the NBA Develop- ment League Dec. 4, but sent him back Dec. 10 before he had a chance to play in an NBA game. McGary missed the first several weeks of the season with a foot injury, but is coming around. During his most recent assignment with the Blue, he ap- peared in two games (two starts) and averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.0 block in 26.5 minutes. Overall, the rookie forward has ap- peared in four games (four starts) with the Blue this season, averaging 16.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 23.8 minutes per game. In Sacramento, guard Nik Staus- kas, the Kings' first-round pick (No. 8 overall), had a career night in leading his team to a 101-92 win over former Michigan teammate and guard Trey Burke and the Utah Jazz Dec. 8. Stauskas put Sacramento in control for good, CBS Sacramento reported, when he converted a twisting layup while getting fouled and completed a three-point play to make it 89-79 with 3:22 remaining. He "became a man," head coach Mi- chael Malone joked, while Stauskas said he "felt like his old self again. "I feel like this is all I really needed," he noted. The loss was the ninth straight for Burke and the Jazz. "We are just going to have to put it all together," Burke said after scoring 13 points. "If we play like we did to- night on the defensive end, I am sure our offense is going to come around."
