36 INDIE / ROCK guestlist.net Issue 70 / 2014 Hozier, real name Andrew Hozier-Byrne, released his eponymous debut album back in September and it has whipped up quite a storm. The album is a cocktail of garage rock, blues, and Americana that is reminiscent of The Band and The Civil Wars. Hozier's creative offering also appeals to the ear of the love-struck with songs such as 'Someone New' and 'To Be Alone'. This is a must for any music lover who is desperate to hear something brooding with a multitude of influences spewing out from every motif of every track. ALBUM OF THE MONTH HOZIER – HOZIER Hozier's excellent cocktail of garage rock, blues, and Americana make him our artist of the month! Over the last few months various members of the Radiohead camp have been exciting fans through twitter, alluding to the possibility of a new Radiohead album. The cryptic tweets began in September, with singer Thom Yorke suggesting that Radiohead were in the studio working on new material: "Stanley & me going thru15years of discarded words & pictures..!while overdubs happen in Radiohead studio.2nd day only." It would seem then, that a release from the experimental Oxfordshire group is imminent, but what can we expect from a new Radiohead record? Since the release of their debut Pablo Honey in 1993, the band has garnered a reputation for radical reinvention. Their last two records, 2007's In Rainbows and 2011's The King of Limbs, have also seen the band pursue innovative release methods; the former being released as a pay-what-you-like download and the latter being self-released through the band's website. What's more, the vacuum since the band's last record has seen many of Radiohead's members pursue a range of individual music projects, all stylistically very different from each other. However, of one fact we can be certain: record number nine is eagerly anticipated. Limehouse's Jamboree is literally hidden. Located in a former Victorian sweet factory that now houses a small community of artists, Jamboree is quietly gaining a reputation as one of London's best small music venues. Hosting an eclectic range of live music from around the world every night of the week, from European Folk to Gypsy Jazz, it always promises to be a good time!
