38 SNOWEST JANUARY 2015 Magazine Turns 40 (below) SnoWest, November, 2013, page 14 (first three paragraphs) BRP PRODUCES ITS 3 MILLIONTH SKI-DOO SNOWMOBILE Late this past summer, BRP pro- duced its three millionth Ski-Doo snowmobile, the 2014 Ski-Doo Summit X E-Tec 800R model, in its Valcourt, Quebec, manufacturing facil- ity, 54 years after the Ski-Doo snow- mobile was born in 1959. "From design to engineering, to the assembly line via marketing, sales and many more, BRP employees have made this milestone possible by striving for quality, innovative and industry- leading products that continually rein- vent the sport," Jose Boisjoli, president and CEO, said. "I want to thank all of them for their hard work, commit- ments and dedication over the years. Without them, this accomplishment would not have been possible." It has been exactly 40 years, day for day, since the millionth snowmobile, a 1974 Ski-Doo T'NT Everest 440 model was produced, and 20 years since the second millionth, a 1994 Ski- Doo Summit snowmobile. Sounds simple. Nice clean contest. No subjectivity. You have one winner and the rest are losers. It would be nice to be able to pick the best mountain snowmobile by one defining event. However, for the SnoWest 2010 Deep Powder 800 Challenge, you just can't line the sleds up. (Okay, you can ... and we did several different times. But all that means is which sled was best set up for that one run.) You need to put the snowmobiles through every imaginable condition, with the limita- tions as to what the snow conditions are at the time of testing, to see which one is the best all-around mountain sled. Then add to that the variables of each rider's riding style/ability and you really have a lot of factors to weigh in on your decision. (below) SnoWest, March, 2010, page 18 (first five paragraphs) Always wear a seat belt on ROVs. We recommend all ROV operators have a valid driver's license. Never carry a passenger in the cargo box; the passenger must be able to place both feet on the floor while keeping their back against the back of the seat. Arctic Cat recommends that all riders take a training course, and that they read and understand their owner's manual before operation.
