GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 16 • 14 patient with it and try to find my spots a little bit better. When I'm in there, I just try to make things happen, so I kind of rush it a bit." Publicly, Painter's desire for Scott's role seems pretty set. He wants Scott to use his athleticism and aggressiveness to put pres- sure on the ball and not let teams get into their offense clearly and, on offense, Painter wants Scott to "just make good decisions." Though Scott's turnover to- tals aren't horrible — in the last eight games he's played, he's had only nine — but ill-advised shots don't count as turnovers in the books either and that's just as much of an issue for Scott as ac- tual turnovers. Scott seemingly begrudg- ingly admits that, saying, "I think those things are the things that keep me off the court." But then follows that up with saying he thinks he's productive when he does play. "I don't have a problem being productive, and I feel like my ef- fort is always there," he said. "I just have to eliminate some of those things and hopefully I can stay on the court. "I just have to keep my head. It's been a rough season for me because I've expected a lot. I know I just have to stay positive and have faith and I know everything will work out." PAINTER IN 'CHALLENGE' AGAIN For the fifth year, Painter will take part in the Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge, a round-robin bracket tourna- ment that allows fans to vote on ESPN.com and coaches to win up to $100,000 for their se- lected charities. Painter finished in the top four — the tournament starts with 48 coaches — in each of the first four years. He was sec- ond the last two years. Fellow Big Ten coaches Tom Izzo, Fran McCaffery, John Beilein and Richard Pitino also are in the Challenge. The first round of voting started Jan. 5 and runs through Jan. 25. Painter has selected the Smith Family BReaK Thru Fund again this year as his charity. The Smith family is from West Lafayette and has an organiza - tion that raises awareness and funds for Niemann-Pick Type C Disease, which has taken the lives of two of the parents' chil- dren. A third still lives with the disease. The organization has funded more than $300,000 in research at Purdue since its inception in 2008, according to a release. j 2014-15 PURDUE MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Date Opponent Time/Result Nov. 2 CALIFORNIA (Pa.)
