P
urdue will have a Super Bowl
champion.
Each of the NFL's final four
teams have at least one former
Boilermaker on the 53-man roster,
including two in Green Bay. There,
defensive end/linebacker Mike
Neal had a big game in the Divi-
sional Playoffs Sunday, helping
the Packers beat Dallas. Reserve
tackle Bruce Gaston, an undrafted
rookie playing for his fourth team
early in his professional career,
was inactive.
Seattle, a fellow NFC finalist,
has defensive end Cliff Avril, while
in the AFC, New England with end
Rob Ninkovich plays Indianapolis
with linebacker Shaun Phillips.
It'll be the 13th time in the last
16 seasons that a former Boilermak-
er has won a Super Bowl ring. Avril
did so last year with the Seahawks.
BREES IN PRO BOWL
Drew Brees got a late invite to
keep his Pro Bowl streak alive.
The former Boilermaker is
headed to the all-Star game as a
replacement for Pittsburgh quar-
terback Ben Roethlisberger, who
could have minor knee surgery.
This is the seventh consecu-
tive season Brees has made the
Pro Bowl and his ninth Pro Bowl
overall. He threw for 4,952 yards
with 33 touchdowns and 17 inter-
ceptions in 2014.
The Pro Bowl is Jan. 25 at
University of Phoenix Stadium in
Glendale, Arizona.

nity to hang out with Brees at this
