High school art teachers can register their classes to go up against thousands of other students, creating their most artistic and inventive designs using blank Vans shoes as their canvas. Vans will donate $50,000 to the winning school's arts pro- gram, along with the poten- tial that the school will see one of its designs produced for sale at select Vans retail locations and online store. Vans Custom Culture start- ed in 2010 with 326 schools participating, and expects to have 3,000 schools par- ticipate in 2015. High school art students: Design a shoe and win for your school Bishop Feehan lists first quarter honor roll WARWICK – Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England is hosting several events in January for girls and adults who are interested in participating in Girl Scouts. Registration will be available at each event, and girls who sign up will receive a special Girl Scout patch. Girl Scout Day will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18, at the URI women's basketball game. At 1 p.m. the URI Dance Team will offer a clinic for all girls. Following the game, girls can meet the URI basketball play- ers during an autograph session. Tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance by emailing rdowding@gssne.org or calling 401-331-4500, ext. 1301. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18, learn all about Girl Scouts at the Providence Place Mall near Macy's on the 2nd floor. On Monday, Jan. 26, GSSNE will be participating in "FUNday Monday" from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Alex & Ani Ice Skating Rink in downtown Providence. Girl Scouts is open to all girls from kindergarten through grade 12 and adults over age 18 may become volunteers; Girl Scout volunteers come from all walks of life; they are men, women, young professionals, retirees, college students, and more. Girl Scouts plan statewide activities, registration events LINCOLN – The winter- spring session of Book Buddies at the Lincoln Public Library will meet on Wednesdays, Feb. 4-April 15, from 4 to 5 p.m. Little Book Buddies, ages 3-8, will meet with an older reader, ages 11-18, for one- on-one reading, coloring and puzzles.
