PREP PROFILES North Carolina Running Back Is Considering Wolverines Huntersville (N.C.) Southlake Chris- tian Academy standout Robert Wash- ington is one of the most offered run- ning backs in the 2016 class, boasting more than 30 Division I offers. It's easy to understand why when you look at what he's been able to do. T h e 5 - 1 0 , 215-pound back burst onto the re- cruiting scene af- ter a 2,512-yard, 2 8 - t o u c h d o w n sophomore cam- paign, and he fol- lowed that up with a junior season that saw him rack up 2,233 yards and 27 touchdowns. His measurables and stats have earned him a four-star rating from Ri- vals.com, and he's considered the No. 11 prospect in North Carolina and the No. 16 running back in the country. Washington has not narrowed his list down to this point, but several schools appear to be rising to the top based on his visits and comments. Ohio State, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Boston College, Syracuse and Michigan have all hosted Washington, and will likely remain on his list until he decides. The Wolverines have done a good job building a strong relationship with the standout back. "My interest level is very high in Michigan," Washington stated. "I've been talking to Coach Roy Manning for over two years now. He came to my school many times, three times last year. Coach Man - ning and I have grown close. "I've been up there four times, and I just feel com- fortable up there. I mean it's Michigan — it has great tra- dition. Just being a Wolverine, you have a pride in be- ing that. "I have a good relationship with the coaches, and I like the type of of- fense they run. "Being in the Big Ten I know they get big ol' linemen," he added. "It comes with the Big Ten, it's a running back conference so they need those linemen." Washington obviously has a lot of thinking to do before he makes his deci- sion. "I know I need to get that top list to- gether," he said. "I do plan on commit- ting around March or so. I might even move that up a little bit because I plan on being an early enrollee. I just have to get that process going a little earlier than the rest of the guys in my class." — Brandon Brown ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Southlake Christian Acad. Huntersville, N.C.
