  OLYMPIC SPORTS WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS (0-0 OVERALL, 0-0 BIG TEN) The defending Big Ten champions will need to replace nearly half of their routines from last season following the graduation of the senior class, but bring in six freshmen to help counter those losses … Head coach Bev Plocki, now in her 26th season in charge, and the No. 8 Wolverines will attempt to extend a streak of 23 consecutive top-four fin- ishes at the NCAA Regionals that dates back to 1992 … The season begins with a big matchup against No. 7 Georgia Jan. 10 in Athens, Ga. … The month of January will wrap up with meets at Ohio State against the Buckeyes and West Virginia Jan. 17, and then home contests against Illinois Jan. 25 and Ne- braska Jan. 31. MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING (6-0 OVERALL, 3-0 BIG TEN) The Wolverines were ranked No. 6 in the country as of mid-January, but had not competed since placing second at the AT&T Winter National Champion- ships, Dec. 3-6 … They will close out the month of January with a big meet against Ohio State Jan. 24. WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING (5-2 OVERALL, 4-0 BIG TEN) Michigan was ranked No. 8 in the country as of mid-January … The Wol- verines competed at the 2015 Orange Bowl Classic Jan. 3 in Key Largo, Fla., and swept all 12 events while breaking four meet records en route to winning the meet with 278.5 points … U-M will finish up the first month of the new year with a meet against Ohio State Jan. 24. WRESTLING (3-2 OVERALL, 1-1 BIG TEN) The Wolverines were ranked No. 18 in the country as of mid-January … … U-M placed fifth out of 29 teams at the Southern Scuffle Jan. 1-2 at Chat- tanooga, Tenn. … Michigan suffered a 20-19 loss at No. 2 Minnesota Jan. 9, but bounced back with a 28-9 triumph over Michigan State Jan. 11 … As of mid-January, the Big Ten had 10 teams ranked in the top 25 — No. 1 Iowa, No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Penn State, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 12 Nebraska, No. 13 Illinois, No. 15 Michigan, No. 18 Northwestern, No. 20 Wisconsin and No. 23 Rutgers. ❑ Sophomore heavyweight Adam Coon, who is ranked No. 8 nationally by Intermat, and the No. 16 Wolverines lost 20-19 at No. 2 Minnesota on Jan. 9.
