INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS MICHIGAN'S TOP OLYMPIC SPORTS PERFORMERS Men's swimming and diving junior Dylan Bosch: Bosch was named the Big Ten Men's Swimmer of the Week after he recorded three top-three finishes at the AT&T Winter National Championships Dec. 3-6 in Greens- boro, N.C. He won the 200-yard butterfly for the second consecutive year with a clocking of 1:41.65, an NCAA 'A' time that will send him back to the NCAA Championships where he'll have a chance to defend his national title. He also finished second in the 200-yard IM (1:44.27) and third in the 400-yard IM (3:44.92), and would have quali- fied for the event final in the 500-yard freestyle (4:19.31) had he chose to swim it again. He claimed NCAA 'B' times in all three of those races and picked up a fourth as part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team (6:22.31). Men's swimming and diving freshman Evan White: White was named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week after he picked up three top-10 finishes at the AT&T Winter National Championships Dec. 3-6 in Greensboro, N.C., taking fourth in the 200-yard IM (1:45.28), seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.12) and 10th in the 100-yard butterfly (47.36). All three performances were NCAA 'B' cuts. He also etched his name into the U-M record book, ranking 10th on the program's all-time top times list in the 200-yard IM. Women's swimming and diving freshman Gillian Ryan: Ryan was named the Big ten Co-Freshman of the Week following her record-setting performance at the AT&T Winter National Championships Dec. 3-6 in Greens- boro, N.C. She contributed 49 points to U-M's second- place finish at the meet, making her the top point scorer for the Maize and Blue. She scored big points with her second-place finishes in both the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles, and also picked up a fourth-place showing in the 200-yard freestyle. In both the 200 and 500, Ryan set school records with times of 1:45.24 in the 200 and 4:37.78 in the 500. In addition, her time (15:54.31) in the 1,650 ranks as the second fastest in U-M history.
