BY JOHN BORTON "Who's got it better than us?" "Nooo-body!" T hat unexpected wrap-up to Jim Harbaugh's opening p r e s s c o n f e r e n c e a s University of Michigan head football coach turned some heads. It also shed some light on a family's togetherness and depth of appreciation. Jack Harbaugh — patriarch of the clan that includes John, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens; Jim, former quarterback and new head coach of Michigan's Wolverines; and Joani Crean, wife of Indiana head basketball coach Tom Crean — uttered the question, loudly enough to be heard throughout the Junge Family Champions Center. The Wolverines' new boss didn't hesitate with the answer, strong and clear. His smile reinforced the deep meaning, and satisfaction with the full circle back to Ann Arbor. Jack Harbaugh first uttered those words more than 60 years ago, with his cousin and friend, ESPN color analyst Mike Gottfried. They were growing up in Crestline, Ohio, where life was simple and good — play and buddies and peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches during those long, sweet summer days. They asked then, who had it better All In The Family Jack Harbaugh Celebrates A Homecoming Jack and Jackie Harbaugh raised son John, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens; son Jim, head coach of U-M; and daughter Joani Crean, wife of Indiana head basketball coach Tom Crean.
