His three-pointers at the 11:24 and 10:29 marks of the second half at Penn State repre- sented a critical stretch for Purdue, which won the game in overtime, 84-77. Octeus is shooting just under 52 percent overall for the season and his run of seven con- secutive double-figure scoring games is now a season-best run for the Boilermakers. FREE THROWS BETTER Purdue is just a 68-percent foul-shooting team this season, up only slightly from last sea- son's 67-percent clip. But that doesn't mean the Boilermakers aren't a significantly better free-throw shoot- ing team, even though the Penn State game was a bit of a step backward. Seventy-one Purdue student-athletes received Academic recognition eclipsing last fall's total of 64 and 2012's total of 46. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners, in at least their second year at their institution and carry a gradepoint average of at least 3.0. Football and women's cross country led the way for the Boilermakers with 20 honorees for football and 19 for women's cross country.
