April Wilson 25
G • 5-7 • Jr.
At times, maybe too
often, Wilson settles for
outside jumpers rather
than trying to drive to
the basket, or get into the
lane for a pull-up jumper.
She can be highly effec-
tive doing so. But she's
not nearly as efficient
from long range, where
she missed two of her three-pointers against
Rutgers. Wilson's a better distributor than
scorer, but right now the Boilermakers need
her looking for high-percentage shots.
Ashley Morrissette 1
G • 5-9 • So.
Morrissette's not going
to shy away from seeking
shots, but she's got to
hit them. In the last two
games, she's been only
6 of 27 from the field, a
shooting rate of only 22
percent. It's a difficult
conundrum, because
Purdue needs Morris-
sette to shoot — it has few other options
— but it needs her to be efficient doing so.
When she's not, defenses don't respect the
Boilermakers on the perimeter and scoring
becomes difficult.
Andreona Keys 24
5-10 • G • Fr.
Keys probably needs to
start being more aggres-
sive offensively, after
taking only two shots,
but scoring seven points,
against Rutgers. The
freshman has shown an
ability to find openings in
a defense to get points,
whether it be long-range
shooting or driving to the hoop. Her field
goal against the Scarlet Knights came on
a weakside putback. At this point, though,
she might be best to stop deferring to up-
perclassmen and try to look for her own shot
more often.
Liza Clemons 23
F • 6-2 • Sr.
Clemons had a nice streak
going with three straight
games of near double-
doubles, but the produc-
tion wasn't there against
the Scarlet Knights. She
had only four points and
five rebounds while play-
ing only 25 minutes due
to foul trouble. Clemons
is capable of a bigger impact, and like the
rest of her team, needs to deliver with con-
sistency.
Whitney Bays 32
F • 6-2 • Sr. (5)
Bays had 16 points and
eight rebounds against
the Scarlet Knights, but
might have been able
to go for more. She hit
only two of her six free
throws, an uncommon
rate for her. And her eight
rebounds all came in the
first half, as the Knights
were able to keep her off the glass. Still,
it's hard for Bays to do all the heavy lifting.
Unfortunately, she might have only eight
games remaining, plus the Big Ten Tourna-
ment, unless Purdue can rally at the end of
the year.

The
Starters
Hayden Hamby 10
G • 5-7 • Jr.
A year ago, Hamby
was able to step up in
the second half of the
season, after KK Houser's
injury, hitting big shots
in victories over Michi-
gan and Iowa. But then,
she was able to operate
more freely, not being a
focal point of defenses.
But she's not been able to get untracked
this season, including only a 1-of-4 shoot-
ing performance in 15 minutes against
Rutgers.
Bree Horrocks 22
C • 6-5 • Fr.
Purdue uses Horrocks
in matchups it feels can
be advantageous, and
she played five minutes
against Rutgers. The
center has some ability,
but needs to be quicker
and more sure of what
she's doing. Against
the Knights, she hit one
shot, but took a jumper that didn't come
within the flow of the offense. She also had
a couple turnovers.
Torrie Thornton 4
F • 6-0 • Jr.
Although she didn't
score much, Thornton
doesn't need to to be
productive. In 17 min-
utes against the Scarlet
Knights, she had five re-
bounds, including three
on the offensive end.
That's where Thornton
has the ability to make
the biggest impact, and if she hits a couple
shots then that's a bonus.
The Shelf
Bridget Perry 13
F • 6-2 • So.
Perry, who has a high
ankle sprain, is probably
out another week, with
the possibility that she'll
return for Purdue's game
vs. Penn State on Sun-
day. She's been out since
the Maryland game in
early January.
