April Wilson 25
G • 5-7 • Jr.
Although she missed
some shots against Penn
State, including a late
three-pointer that would
have tied the game, Wil-
son had a good week of-
fensively, averaging more
than 10 points per game
while having only one
turnover in 73 minutes.
If she wants to be more efficient from the
field, she needs more from the mid-range,
where she's a solid shooter, and less from
long range, where she hit only 2 of 9 in the
last two games.
Andreona Keys 24
5-10 • G • Fr.
Keys has been more ag-
gressive recently, a good
development for the
freshman. She's been one
of Purdue's more efficient
players, shooting 42
percent from the field this
season. But she's not been
a go-to player. In the last
two games, however, she's
averaged 10 points per game on better than
50-percent shooting. And she's doing so by
attacking the basket, either able to score
inside or by getting to the line.
Bridget Perry 13
F • 6-2 • So.
Perry returned to the
rotation — and the start-
ing lineup — against
Penn State after missing
seven games over the last
month with a high ankle
sprain. She brought some
aggressive play, driving
hard to the basket to get
to the line four times and
she grabbed five of her eight rebounds on
the offensive end. But her shot was off, not
surprising given the rust, with her missing 11
of her 13 attempts.
Liza Clemons 23
F • 6-2 • Sr.
Clemons has upped her
play down the stretch,
scoring in double figures
in four of the last five
games, leading the Boiler-
makers in scoring against
Indiana and Penn State
while also pulling in 16
rebounds. She's finding
most of her openings
in the paint against zone defenses, able to
work quickly to get scores before opponents
can double her.
Whitney Bays 32
F • 6-2 • Sr. (5)
Bays has been out of
sorts offensively, not
finding many scoring
opportunities within
Purdue's scheme. And too
frequently, she's apt to try
to take over, going one-
on-one in the lane in an
attempt to score. That can
work, but when it doesn't,
it leaves the Boilermakers scrambling to find
a shot. She was benched at the start of the
second half against Indiana, as a result of
poor offensive decision-making and inad-
equate defense.

Starters
Hayden Hamby 10
G • 5-7 • Jr.
Hamby plays fundamen-
tally sound, getting after
it to the best of her abil-
ity on defense and re-
bounding well, given her
size. But for as hard as
she plays, Hamby's not
been able to find a niche
offensively and that's
where Purdue needs her
to contribute the most.
Bree Horrocks 22
C • 6-5 • Fr.
Horrocks logged extra
time against Penn State,
due to Torrie Thornton's
foot injury, getting in for
eight minutes. And she
did a few positive things,
hitting a jumper and
pulling in two rebounds.
If she can consistently
hit the face-up jumpers,
then she could find a niche role for the
Boilermakers. But, as has been the case
all season, she needs to be quicker to the
ball on offense and quicker to rotate on
defense.
Ashley Morrissette 1
G • 5-9 • So.
Morrissette was
benched to start the
second half vs. Indiana,
then benched to start
the game against Penn
State. Why? She's not
hitting shots. She's made
only four of her last 20
attempts, 1 of 8 of which
are from three-point
range. During the Big Ten, she's hit less
than 33 percent of her attempts, including
only 26 percent from long distance, yet she
is Purdue's second-most-frequent shooter,
and by a long shot; Wilson, Purdue's No. 3
option, has attempted 50 fewer shots.
Torrie Thornton 4
F • 6-0 • Jr.
Thornton wasn't avail-
able against Penn State,
and might not be in the
rotation for a while, after
injuring her foot a few
days before the game.
It's a loss for Purdue,
because its bench gets
even thinner and Thorn-
ton was able to bring
energy, and a defensive and rebounding
presence.
