pawtucket edition | valley breeze | February 11-17, 2015 OBITUARIES / HEALTH 21 Bertha A. Burns, 92, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015. She was the wife of the late John E. Burns. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Chicoine) Perron. Bertha was a switchboard oper- ator for the Pawtucket School Department for 25 years. An extremely talented seam- stress, she sewed costumes for the Theresa Landry Dance Studio. She was also an accom- plished knitter. Bertha loved playing the penny machines at Twin River. She loved to travel, and she lived life to the fullest. She is sur- vived by her daughter, Ann-Marie Burns of Rumford; a brother, Ernest Perron of Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Arthur and Alfred Perron. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 9 a.m. from the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Mary Church, Pine Street, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 9-10:30 a.m., prior to the Mass in the Funeral Home. She was the wife of the late Filinto Couto. She leaves Antonio Gomes and Domingas Fortes, both of Pawtucket, whom she raised as her own children; and a niece, Marguerita Lobo.
