2015 RECRUITING ISSUE were some really good guys. I liked the program that they run at North- western. It really felt like a family atmosphere when I was there on my visit. I felt like I fit in well with the current players and the coaches. "It was my biggest offer at the time and would give me the best competi- tion. Committing was definitely the right thing to do at that time." Northwestern was Perry's biggest offer when they extended the schol- arship, but that all changed Feb. 2. Perry recalls exactly what happened when a big-time head coach called him at home. "I remember I was just watching one of my shows on Netflix, just a normal day, and I got a call from Coach [Jim] Harbaugh," Perry said. "I had kind of envisioned what it would be like to get that call, and I was living through the visions that I had. It just felt so good when I got that call, and I realized that the hard work finally paid off. I was beyond excited." Almost immediately, Perry an- nounced that he was decommitting from Northwestern and would be making his final decision the next day. Everyone who knew anything about the situation knew that he'd eventually choose Michigan. Sofran felt like it was Perry's destiny all along. "I know in his heart, and it's obvi- ously proven out, he really wanted to wear the winged helmet," Sofran said. "That's what he said all along. You have a guy in Grant that is kind of the Cinderella story. He's the un- der-rated guy that wanted badly to be at his big-time, dream school in Michigan. "It was Grant's dream all along
