2015 RECRUITING ISSUE 2009 — Tate Forcier Quarterback • San Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch High School Four-star prospect, and the No. 164 overall player and No. 5 dual-threat quarterback nationally Forcier filled Michigan's need for a dual-threat quarterback in his only year as a starter. He completed 165 of 281 passes (58.7 percent) for 2,050 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 intercep- tions, while adding 240 yards on the ground with three scores. 2010 — Will Hagerup Punter • Whitefish Bay (Wis.) High School Three-star recruit and the No. 3 kicker nationally It's probably saying something about the quality of Rodriguez's final class that the player most able to make a freshman impact (among nine who didn't redshirt) was a punter. Hagerup was a good one — his 43.6-yard average per kick and 11 punts downed inside the 20 saw him earn Freshman All-America mention. 2011 — Frank Clark Defensive end • Cleveland Glenville High School Three-star prospect and unranked at outside linebacker The 2011 class saw few true freshman contributors. However, Clark made seven total tackles, with half a tackle for loss, and built his buzz for future seasons with an athletic interception in the Sugar Bowl victory over Virginia Tech. 2012 — James Ross III Linebacker • Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's Prep Four-star recruit, and the No. 172 overall player and No. 14 outside linebacker nation- ally Ross was the better of two highly used freshman linebackers in 2012 (Joe Bolden was the other), and he finished the season with 36 total tackles, 2.5 stops for loss and 0.5 sacks. 2013 — Kyle Bosch Offensive lineman • Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis Four-star prospect, and the No. 104 overall player and No. 7 offensive tackle nationally Bosch was a rare true freshman starter on the offensive line, earning the honor in three games and contributing off the bench in two others. Although the Wolverines' blockers struggled as a unit, he was clearly a bright spot. 2014 — Mason Cole Offensive lineman • Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake Four-star recruit, and the No. 92 overall player and No. 6 offensive tackle nationally Cole saw what Bosch did the previous year and took things even further, starting every game of his true freshman season at the all-important left tackle position. He was named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America.
