2015 RECRUITING ISSUE Best Individual Senior-Season Game: Malzone and Perry once again earn an honor together because of their joint efforts in an October contest against eventual state champion Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's. Malzone went 21- of-27 for 271 yards and four touchdowns and also added 24 yards rushing. Perry was on the receiving end of 12 Malzone passes for a total of 201 yards and all four of his QB's touchdown throws. Malzone broke 12 school records and Perry broke 11 records. Perry also broke a Michigan state record for most pass receptions in a season (105). His 16 receptions in a game missed the state record by one, and his 1,727 receiving yards as a senior was the second most in state history. Hails From The Hometown With Most U-M Alumni: Over 40 players have made their way from Saginaw to Ann Arbor. The first was Ralph E. Cooper, listed as a former Michigan player from 1897, with a hometown of Saginaw, Mich. The most recent Saginaw native to wear the Maize and Blue was fullback John McColgan from Nouvel Catholic, who last played in 2011. The most notable player from Saginaw to play for Michigan was Saginaw High star LaMarr Wood- ley, who played from 2003-06. His senior season was littered with accolades including the Ted Hendricks Award, Lombardi Award, first-team All-Big Ten selection, and unanimous All-American honors. Hails From The Hometown With Fewest U-M Alumni: Gentry from Albu- querque, N.M., Johnson from Delray Beach, Fla., Ulizio from West Chester, Ohio, and Keith Washington from Prattville, Ala. all represent the first football players from their respective hometowns to attend Michigan. Recruit Who Attended The Most 2014 Michigan Home Games: Out of the seven home games in 2014, Malzone made it into Ann Arbor for five of them. Being a quarterback commit makes his presence among other recruits impor- tant, but being only 41 miles away is probably the bigger factor. First Michigan Commitment: David committed to Michigan June 24, 2013, almost two full years before he signed his national letter of intent. He only beat out Jon Runyan Jr. by one day. David committed the day he was offered, and as a lifelong Michigan fan, he knew that nothing would change his mind. Most Recent Michigan Commitment: Michigan landed four recruits on Na- tional Signing Day, but tight end Tyrone Wheatley Jr. did it at about 3:15 in the afternoon making him the last member of the 2015 class to put pen to paper on his letter of intent. Washington, Higdon and Johnson also pledged for the Wolverines on Feb. 4, but Wheatley Jr. put the bow on Michigan's 2015 class.
