The Tigers have accumulated 24 state championships and nine na- tional championships in school his- tory, and boast an overall record of 849-277-36, a mark that no other school in Ohio can approach. Yet with all of the state of Ohio tradition at Massillon, a 5-8, 170-pound kicker grew up a Michigan Man and made it official on National Signing Day. Andrew David was Michigan's first commitment for the 2015 class and he never wavered despite a rocky 2014 season that ultimately got the coaching staff that he committed to fired. David grew up in Ohio, submerged in Massillon tradition, but always loved Michigan. He was born into his love for the Maize and Blue and even had Michigan carpet in his bedroom growing up. That passion for U-M only grew stronger as he got older and did so, in part, because of some Massillon natives. "My family ties were key," David said. "My dad is a big Michigan fan. He got me started by taking me to games when I was little. It's just kind of been a forever thing. "There have been a lot of former Massillon players that have had such an experience at Michigan — espe- cially Shawn Crable, who I looked up to growing up. He used to come over and play video games with me. He came home after the Rose Bowl game when they played USC. My dad and I had lunch with his family and he gave me his game jersey.
