Track of The monTh Disciples - They Don'T know South Londoners Disciples look set to hit the big time Mysterious Canadian Bwana looks poised for big things this year. After an attention grabbing mix for Will Saul's Aus Music Rinse FM show back in November 2014, he released his first EP for the label, Flute Dreams, in December. The multi- layered title track's flute arpeggios and climactic nature earned it a place in Sasha and Huxley's BBC Essential Mixes, as well as appearing in Mixmag's Top 10 Tunes of December. Meanwhile, the twinkly epicness of 'Aomame' and reverberating chords of 'Fizzle' earned the overall EP a rare glowing Resident Advisor review. Monki included him in her "Tips for 2015" for her end-of-year 1xtra show, Disclosure are fans, and he's even featured in an American Apparel photoshoot – if that's not a recipe for success, then we don't know what is. e. The latest signing to Aus Music has been causing a stir It's been a long time coming, but Bromance Records boss Brodinski has released his debut LP one To waTch Bwana il moffa alBum of The monTh BroDinski - Brava It's been a long time coming, but Brodinski is finally releasing his debut album, Brava, this March 6th. Speaking in an interview with Red Bull back in 2013, he explained what sound he was be aiming for; "It's like mixing styles, which is always a good idea but never usually brings good results, so I'm trying to do it well with what I love about techno and electronic music in general and what I like about rap, R&B and everything from southern USA." For those more familiar with Brodinski, this new album might seem like an unexpected move towards the rap/ trap side of musical spectrum. It seems as if this full length solo LP was the first opportunity for Brodinski to truly explore what we've only seen glimpses of before, both on previous tracks and in his notoriously fiery sets. Lead single 'Can't Help Myself' is a fantastic opener, veering between classic laidback trap featuring the vocals of SD, and a dancefloor-tearer of an adrenaline- fuelled techno breakdown. There are more glimpses of the classic dark, cinematic Brodinski with 'Need For Speed', featuring Louisahhh and Bloody Jay. This is one of the standout tracks of the album - there's no denying that Louisahhh and Brodinski are a fantastic duo. Trap sections featuring Imogen Heap-esque vocals are fused with a climactic electro buildup, led by a seductive voice demanding her need for blood, sweat and gasoline. '51 Bandz' is another particularly interesting collab, featuring the ethereal voice of UK singer/songwriter Phlo Finnister, juxtaposed with the rapping of 2$ Fabo. 'Us' is a great way to close the album, an uplifting track featuring soaring, soulful vocals and almost EDM-like chords - it's mainstream club-friendly, yet still contains enough quirk to mark it out as a Brodinski track. Brava is, in some respects, a curveball of an album compared to Brodinski's previous output. Nevertheless the sound of bass-heavy, technofied trap with a dark edge fits in well with the Bromance brand, and is entirely capable of tearing up dancefloors. 26 Issue 72 / 2015 HOUSE guestlist.net Teach Me (MK remix) MK, Bakermat Void Fritz Kalkbrenner, Baror Disappear Mineo French Girl In Berghain John Monkman, Sandeman Bang the Box Little by Little Spiral Arms EP Youandewan Cause for Concern EP Jordan Peak Tightrope Dancer EP Deepdisco Rebound/Whatever Weather Ashworth So Many Promises Nathan Barata, Louis Proud Stealth Actor One Fired Up EP Fired Up EP our playlisT More @ guestlist.net/house 2014 was the year that South Londoners Gavin, Duvall and Luke began really making waves in the music world. Snapped up by Pete Tong's FFRR imprint, 2015 looks to be the year that Disciples go stratospheric with their first release on the label, 'They Don't Know', coming out on February 22nd. An inimitably catchy track with deeper undertones, 'They Don't Know' showcases the trio's diverse backgrounds from production, songwriting and arrangement to full effect. Yet more impressive is the group's strong independence and stand-alone talent as an outfit – the deep, almost choral vocals are not the result of a guest vocalist or sampling, but Luke singing in the studi
