Guestlist Recommends Audio Addict RecoRds 30 Issue 72 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net BReAkin science @ BuildinG six The ultimate DnB party, Breakin Science, is back on February 28th Audio Addict Records are starting to make waves in the drum & bass scene, with every new release demonstrating their lust for top quality music. 2010 was the year that DJ Hybrid and Dub Kid set up Audio Addict Records as a way to promote their own music; four years on and the label has expanded itself, releasing material from other new and up-and-coming producers. The label doesn't restrict itself to one style of drum & bass, it celebrates the diversity of the genre, so expect to hear anything from gritty jump up to dark and technical beats. It's still early days for this label, but they're already supported by the likes of Grooverider, Kenny Ken & Nicky Blackmarket, and the releases have been nothing but quality so far - we can only imagine the bangers coming from the imprint in the future. This is the first Breakin Science of 2015 and once again will be setting the standard for the rest of the year. They are taking over London's ultimate purpose-built music venue, Building Six, located in the 02 Arena. MC's for the night include Eksman, Skibadee, Trigga, Harry Shotta, Fearless, Dreps, Shaydee, and Youngafox. The artist lineup is equally as ridiculous - expect big things from New Breed vs Sdc vs Low Down Deep, S.A.S vs Playaz vs Higher Level, Dillinja, Brockie, Annix, Dj Pleasure, Jayline, Turno and Harry Bizzle, to name but a few. For real DnB heads, this is unmissable! AlBum of the month dRs - mid mic cRisis DRS demonstrates his versatility and unique style with this latest drop With a reputation now stretching well over 15 years, DRS is a truly versatile individual. He is head of the Estate Recordings label in Manchester, part of hip-hop crew Broke 'n' English, and a respected recording artist in his own right - his massive debut LP on mighty Manchester drum and bass label Soul:R entitled I Don't Usually Like MC's But paved the way for more MC's to lay down lyrics over a 170bpm tempo. The new 2015 album entitled Mid Mic Crisis has called in an amazing line up of collaborators to help him bring his vision to life, including Addison Groove, Die, Calibre, Dub Phizix, Lynx, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, S.P.Y., Chimpo and even the Soul:R bossman himself, Marcus Intalex. The first sampler from the album sees DRS linking up with Jubei for the booming lead single, 'The Puppeteer' before flipping it into dubby territory on 'Emergency' with Intalex on the flip. What can I say apart from don't sleep on this album!
