42 Issue 72/ 2015 guestlist.net Artist/Album of the month Kid inK - full speed LA rapper releases his fourth album ones to WAtch rAe sremmurd US upstarts dropping their debut album this month Rae Sremmurd, the young hip hop duo from Tupelo, Mississippi, had a great 2014. The summer saw the two brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jimmy burst onto the scene with a very loud bang, with the release of their tune 'No Flex Zone', but this was only the beginning. While 'No Flex Zone' brought moderate success, the release of their massive track, 'No Type' in September transformed them from new kids in the game to A-list stars with an international audience and a lot to prove. If you somehow managed to avoid the 'No Type' hype, then check it out – we listed it as one of our top hip hop tracks of last year, and for good reason. Whilst you're doing that, give their latest single a listen. As with many artists just starting to blow up, Rae Sremmurd have bagged themselves a couple of killer features, in the form of Young Thug's verse and Nicki Minaj's chorus on third single, 'Throw Sum Mo'. We're currently bumping their new album, which dropped last month. In fact, by the time you're reading this, we're willing to bet that you've probably been doing the same thing for a little while. The 11 track album is titled SremmLife, and is starting to make some serious waves stateside. If the success of the album's first three singles are anything to go by, we'll soon all be living the SremmLife here in the UK as well. Despite releasing some of the most important hip hop tracks of the last decade, Jay has yet to release an official debut album - though he has claimed on several occasions that the album is finished and is ready for release on Jay-Z's Roc Nation imprint. Here's hoping he doesn't make us wait too much longer! In the meantime, we'll have to make do with what's sure to be a killer live show. Full Speed is packed full of exciting collaborations and consists of 12 tracks as standard, with a deluxe edition featuring an additional three bonus tracks on the way. Ink has released four tracks from Full Speed so far; 'Body Language', 'Hotel', 'Blunted', and 'Cool Back'. We're loving what we've heard so far, and are looking forward to seeing what else Kid Ink has to offer.
