Bauer formally was the director
of grounds at The Club at Carlton
Woods in The Woodlands, north
of Houston.
After earning a turf management
degree from Michigan State
University, Bauer began his
career at Shoal Creek Golf Club,
a Top 100 course in Birmingham,
Ala. Later he was recruited to
the team of young aspiring
superintendents responsible for
maintaining the Jack Nicklaus'
Estate in North Palm Beach,
Fla., where he was groomed for
a career in golf course design
and maintenance by Nicklaus.
Following this Bauer served
as superintendent for The
Challenge at Manele, Lanai,
Hawaii, and Spring Creek Ranch
in Memphis, Tenn., before joining
the The Club at Carlton Woods.
