Karel O'Brien MD, MB, BCh, BAO, FRCPC Staff Neonatologist; Assistant Professor Research interests are focused on improving the outcomes of preterm infants and infants born with complex needs, such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Has collaborated on many Canada-wide research projects and is currently co- leading a national trial of Family Integrated Care in the NICU. 25 Physicians and Faculty Researchers Martin Offringa MD, PhD Staff Neonatologist; Professor Head of the Child Health Evaluative Sciences program at The Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute with a clinical appointment at Mount Sinai Hospital. Research interests are in clinical evaluation of tests and treatments in neonatology and across paediatrics, with an emphasis on smart trial design and conduct. Prakesh Shah MD, MSc, FRCPC, MRCPCH Staff Neonatologist; Associate Director of MiCare; Director of the CNN and iNeo; Associate Professor Research areas are maternal and neonatal health services, patient- and disease-oriented research to improve the quality of neonatal care, and knowledge synthesis. Co-leads the Improving Quality team at Mount Sinai Hospital NICU, which received a Karen McGibbon Award of Excellence. Vibhuti Shah MD, FRCPC, MSc Staff Neonatologist; Associate Professor Epidemiologist with expertise in clinical trials, systematic reviews, knowledge translation, and implementation of practice guidelines. Research focuses on management of pain in neonates, infants, and children; prevention and management of sepsis; and quality improvement initiatives. Sharon Unger MD, FRCPC Staff Neonatologist; Medical Director of the Rogers Hixon Ontario Human Milk Bank; Associate Professor Primary research interest is neonatal nutrition. Principal investigator for the CIHR-funded trial of donor human milk (Domino) and the CIHR-funded program in neonatal nutrition (OptiMom). Jennifer Young BSc, MBBS, DM (Paeds) Staff Neonatologist; Assistant Professor Staff neonatologist at Mount Sinai Hospital and faculty member in the Dept. of Paediatrics, University of Toronto, since 2011. Areas of interest are medical education and neonatal follow-up care. Kin Fan Young Tai MBBS, MHSc, FRCPC Staff Neonatologist; Assistant Professor Main interests are in education and neonatal resuscitation training. Medical Coordinator of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and co-leads the NICU Neonatal Resuscitation Committee. Provides outreach courses to other disciplines such as anesthesia, family medicine, and allied health: midwifery and anesthesia assistants. Lucia Mirea PhD Biostatistician; Assistant Professor Biostatistics faculty member of MiCare with academic appointment in the Division of Biostatistics, Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Present research includes application and development of innovative statistical methods for observational and experimental studies to evaluate biological risk factors, treatment modalities, and delivery of care in maternal-infant health. Xiangming Qiu PhD Health Services Researcher; Assistant Professor Research interests include educational and psychological outcomes, focusing on prevention and intervention practices; health services research; and international medical education. Currently working with an integrated team of stakeholders to better support families of preterm infants following discharge from the NICU.
