GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 22 • 25 a receiver at Kentucky and spent his early coaching career with receivers. "That's been the most years I've spent coaching, so I'm excited to be back there," Parker said. "It's something that's been part of my life, playing it and take a lot of pride coaching it as well. So I'm excited to get back there and work with these guys and continue to get them better." Parker knows there will be challenges in his new role, though. With Danny Anthrop out for the spring while recovering from a knee injury and B.J. Knauf 's career over, Purdue doesn't have any consistent, proven playmakers in the receiving corps. It desperately needs more production from the group, which Hazell reminded him when they met Sun - day. "I think he'll be great for that room," Hazell said. "I need him to be an ex- pert at all the little things, details, in coaching the posi- tion, understanding concepts. We have to make sure this room progresses. This is one of the rooms that I think can make huge strides, and he'll bring that energy. I know that. He'll also bring the expertise." Parker said his first priority will be establishing leadership among the group and then he'll point to pertinent on-the-field efforts, namely de - veloping deep threats to spread the field. It helps that he has a familiarity with the receivers, some of whom he coached on special teams, and has an idea of what they can do. "There's a feel for who they are and they have a feel for me. But there's going to be an adjustment for me coming into the room new and vice versa," he said. "But I hope they're excited. I sure am. I think it'll be a good challenge for us to get to know each other differently, but also they get a change in face and so do I. it's just a whole new challenge I'm excited about."
