While Knight won a pair of national titles while Keady was at Purdue, Keady is the only Big Ten coach to have a winning record over Knight, beating him 21 times in 41 games. And in Mackey Arena, Keady was dominant, winning 15-of-20 match- ups, including his last seven battles with The General. "We treated it like just another game," Keady would say after those wins. But we knew better. One of the reasons Keady will be forever loved by the Boilermaker fans is that he stood up to Knight on the court and beat him at his own game. During that 20-year period, Keady was the shin- ing point of Purdue's high-profile teams as Boilermaker football struggled mightily until Joe Tiller came to town for the 1997 season.
