32 Issue 73 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net His productions don't compromise on technique; it's fast paced, relentless aggression that hasn't gone unnoticed by an army of bass heads. In 15 years Audio has released 4 albums, and a stack of singles/EPs, whilst being a key player in Ed Rush & Optical's Virus imprint. Away from the studio Audio holds an explosive reputation on the club circuit. In 2014 Audio signed to the influential Ram Records, pushing him even higher up the ranks. Last month saw him take the reins of the RamLife compilation series where he presented a freight train of a mix, each tune as powerful and technical as the last. Spor decided to release his new album Caligo, on BitTorrent, giving fans the choice to pay or not pay for a copy. Artwork, an official video and a host of other exclusive content is included along with the 13 tracks, reflecting Spor's artistry. The album was initially leaked, but ever cool and collected, Spor simply dropped it officially, ahead of the scheduled release date. As he explained on his Reddit AMA, "I anticipated this happening, no matter how hard I worked to prevent it. As a result, we were fully prepared, and the full release of my album Caligo will launch in about 17 minutes, hence beginning this AMA a little early. It's important to be pragmatic. In the end, I'm more so flattered that people are interested." Talking on Facebook, Jon Gooch gave an insight to the creation and life of Spor, and the personal effects of living a life in the music industry. He explained that the decision to release the album for free comes from the album fully reflecting his drum & bass persona. When it's available on BitTorrent the album will be "something that's everywhere and nowhere at the same time, replicating and spreading", something that he feels "embodies the nature of Spor". After a hiatus which left many fans sitting on the edge of their subs, Calyx & TeeBee are making a dramatic return. With this record in tow, the scene is about to bow down yet again to two of their most skilled sonic crafters. Calyx & TeeBee are back with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. What else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison? Both tracks demonstrate why these two very talented individuals are highly respected within DnB producer circles. trAck of the Month cALYx & teeBee - A dAY thAt never coMes/snAkes & LAdders It's a two-hander this month!
