flying Sierras, junior infielder Sierra Romero and junior outfielder Sierra Lawrence. The next day, they made Johnson look altogether human, bringing her down, 4-1, with sophomore out- fielder Kelly Christner belting a two- run homer in the sixth. Again, that's what Hutchins is talk- ing about — all or nothing. She cred- ited Johnson as a "legit" pitcher, but insists her team has to get better at making things happen when the ball isn't flying out of the park. The Wolverines certainly feature the weapons to do so. Through 28 games, Romero posted a blistering batting average of .516 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI. She led the Wol- verines in all of those categories, as well as runs scored (34), slugging percentage (1.065), total bases (66) and walks (30). U-M assistant coach Bonnie Tholl has been through 24 college softball seasons as a coach — 22 of them at Michigan — and assures that Romero is an elite performer. "She's one of the most special play- ers I've seen in my coaching career in Division I softball, not just here at Michigan," Tholl noted. "I compare her to all the kids I've seen in the country.
