FOOTBALL RECRUITING
State, Oklahoma and USC are among
his other suitors.
CB DAVID LONG JR.
6-0, 170 pounds • Los Angeles Loyola
Four stars, No. 41 prospect in California
and No. 30 athlete nationally
Long is a t wo -way
player who is being
recruited primarily as
a defensive back. His
k nowledge of routes
thanks to his offensive
forays makes him a very
smart player, and his athleticism helps
him make up ground if he gets beat.
Long plans to take a visit to Michigan
in the summer, and the U-M recruit-
ment of Costello and Crawford — with
whom he is close friends — could help.
CB WAYNE DAVIS
5-11, 180 pounds
Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor
Four stars, No. 7 prospect in Virginia and
No. 20 cornerback nationally
Davis is small in stat-
ure, but makes up for it
with outstanding ath-
leticism and the flex-
ibility to turn and run
with receivers in man
coverage. The Maize
and Blue hope to use plenty of man
coverage, and Davis could be an excel-
lent fit.
Although he's only taken visits to
schools closer to his home in Virginia
thus far, Davis is particularly interested
in Michigan. He plans to see Ann Arbor
this summer.
