Training for the future It is clear that Bob is totally committed to the club and the community – when the clubhouse was being extended he re- mortgaged his home to find the extra cash needed, and he is also the football investment strategy manager for Leicestershire & Rutland County Football Association, a role that includes developing business plans and offering advice to local clubs. No surprise then, that in the 1999 New Year's Honours List he was awarded the MBE for services to the police and the local community and, more recently, last year won the IOG Vitax Amenity Grounds and Natural Turf Improvement Programme Volunteer of the Year Award. But, he says, he could easily name at least 20 other people who are equally involved and committed to the club and its causes. Sometime after retirement from the police, Bob took on a part-time job (three days a week with a bank) so needed some help at the ground. He took on an apprentice; it was a move that set in motion a successful programme of groundsmanship apprenticeships at the club in conjunction with the nearby Brooksby Agricultural College. Bob could name at least 20 other people who are equally involved and committed to the club and its causes ROTADAIRON SEEDERS AND OVER-SEEDERS We offer a range of RotaDairon Seeders from smaller highly manoeuvrable, self-propelled walk behind units to larger capacity machines for use with a compact tractor.
