Michigan finished runner-up in the conference tournament, surren- dering a 2-1 lead before pulling its goalie when trailing by one goal with 1:12 left in the contest; the Gophers iced their victory with an empty-net marker at 19:38 of the third. And Michigan finished 19th in the Pairwise Rankings, four spots out of the last at-large NCAA bid, which went to a Providence team that went on to advance to the Frozen Four and win the national championship. "There are definitely some posi- tives to take away from the year, like the culture of the room, the work ethic of the guys, some things that will be really important going for- ward, but it's going to be a long off- season," sophomore alternate captain J.T. Compher said. "It's the same way as last year when we came up one game short. We don't want to be in that situation next year."
