J im Harbaugh aches to win. Michigan fans and foes alike are about to find out how deeply that drive has imbedded itself into his bone marrow. It's not like they had no clue go- ing in. They'd seen Harbaugh battle on the football field, for Mich- igan and in the NFL. They'd seen him coach his way to success ev- erywhere he's been. They'd witnessed Harbaugh — in the scant months since he's been back in Ann Arbor — assemble a coaching staff like he's prepping for an invasion of Columbus. Which, of course, he is. They've seen him prevail upon the pow- ers that be to expand Michigan foot- ball's support staff beyond anything witnessed heretofore. Now, they're watching him shore up the roster, short term, in unprecedented fash- ion. They call it "playing football," but Harbaugh isn't playing. Free agent acquisitions include: • Fifth-year senior quarterback Jake Rudock, transferring in from Iowa, where he started the past two years. Rudock threw for 2,436 yards and 16 touchdowns last season with only five interceptions, and he com- pleted better than 60 percent of his passes over two campaigns. • Sophomore quar- terback John O'Korn, transferring in from Houston, where he started as a true fresh- man and threw for 3,117 yards and 28 touchdowns. The 6-4 signal-caller has to redshirt in 2015, but will enjoy two years of eligibility thereafter. • Fifth-year senior punter Blake O'Neill, a transfer from Weber State, who like Rudock is eligible to play right away. O'Neill aver- aged 44.1 yards per punt last season, with 18 boots of 50 or more yards. • Fifth-year senior cornerback Wayne Lyons, transferring in from Stanford to perform in 2015. Lyons is a 41-game veteran, with 126 ca- reer tackles and three interceptions. Need help at quarterback, now and in the future? Need cornerback depth? Need a punter to come in and perform right away? Check, WOLVERINE WATCH   JOHN BORTON Loading Up For Battles To Come Head coach Jim Harbaugh has brought in some transfers to bolster U-M's roster. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
