BY JOHN BORTON M ichigan's biggest ques- tion mark going into the offseason involved what might happen at quarter- back. One potentially big answer has dropped into head coach Jim Har- baugh's lap. Jake Rudock, an impending fifth- year senior transfer from Iowa, is headed for Ann Arbor. Michigan con- firmed the news on April 9, noting the graduating Iowa quarterback will be a Wolverine, eligible to compete immediately in the 2015 season. "I am excited for Jake to get here and compete with the quarterbacks that we already have in the pro- gram," Jedd Fisch, U-M's passing game coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach, said of the impending arrival. "I've known Jake for a long time, since 2011, and I am excited to be a part of the staff that is now coaching him. "I think that Jake brings great maturity and experience to the pro- gram. He has 25 starts under his belt in the Big Ten and a winning record of 15–10. All of that, combined with the quarterbacks we currently have in the program and all the skill we are surrounding him with, we are excited about the things that Jake can do for our program." Those close to Rudock noted he's had his eyes on Michigan for quite a while. Once he was completely released from the Iowa program to play elsewhere as a fifth-year senior, and once the Big Ten signed off on an intra-conference transfer, the doors were wide open for Rudock to make the move. Rudock started for the Hawkeyes the past two seasons. Last fall, he completed 213 of 345 passes for 2,436 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He's also smart, a quick learner and someone of high academics and character, according to Tom Kakert of HawkeyeReport. com. "I think it's just a really good situ- ation for him and for Michigan, be- cause you're bringing in a guy who is a student of the game," Kakert said. "He's smart. He can pick everything QB Help Is On THe Way Fifth-Year Senior Transfer Jake Rudock Will Be A Wolverine
