COMMITMENT PROFILE Farmington (Mich.) High 2016 line- backer David Reese has visited Michi- gan many times during the recruiting process. The 6-1, 226-pound three-star prospect dropped by campus for sev- eral games in the fall, camped in Ann Arbor last summer and made multiple un- official visits to town during the past couple offseasons. For much of his recruitment, however, it looked like a U-M offer may be out of reach. Reese took his first unofficial visit to the University of Louis- ville March 8, along w i t h h i g h s c h o o l teammate (and Cardi- nals pledge) Desmond Fitzpatrick, and left campus committed to the Cardinals. What he didn't realize, though, is that he'd have an opportunity from his childhood favorite before the end of the month. Reese stopped by Michigan March 27, and the following day the Wolver- ines let him know he'd be welcome in the Maize and Blue. "Head coach Jim Harbaugh said that he thought he already offered me in January," Reese explained. "When I came to him, I actually said, 'Coach, I can help you out. I really want that Michigan offer.' He had a conversa- tion with me there. "He thought about what I said that night after, and he watched my film again. Then he called me and said, 'It must have been a misunderstanding. We thought we had of- fered you already, but just to let you know, you have an offer from the University of Michigan.' " M y m i n d w a s b l o w n a b o u t i t , throughout the day I was just happy in school," he continued. "I was super excited. It's like a dream offer to me. I was real ex- cited and just ready for that to come." It didn't take Reese long to accept the of- fer. While on campus for Michigan's spring game April 4, he dropped Louisville and committed to Harbaugh and the Wolverines. Reese, the No. 11 rising senior in Michigan and No. 17 inside line- backer in the land according to Rivals. com, became the second linebacker in the 2016 class, joining Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy four-star Dele' Harding. He's also capable of contributing at multiple positions. While Michigan plans to start him Local Linebacker David Reese Flips From Louisville Rivals.com lists Reese as a three- star talent, the No. 11 player in Michigan and the No. 17 inside linebacker nationally in the class of 2016.
