Rocky also explained that the title in a GQ interview, "I'm claiming ownership of my legacy. Look at it: At.Long.Last. A$AP. A-L-L-A. Like slang for 'Allah.' It's the return of the god MC. I'm named after Rakim, and I'm finally facing what it means: I was born to do this shit. And I hope I get to do it for a very long time." Live.A$AP will be called A.L.L.A Jay Z As he launches his new venture, Tidal, we celebrate the hip hop mogul Jay Z is one of the most famous and powerful people in the entire world, let alone in hip-hop. One half of music's biggest power couple, Jay has sold more than 100 million records, won 19 Grammy Awards, and established a mammoth business empire. Born Shawn Carter, the rapper had a rough upbringing in Brooklyn, dealing drugs and brushing with gun violence, but managed to escape the projects through rap. His albums Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album have become classics of the genre, and he has been responsible for breaking the careers of many producers and artists, including Kanye West, The Neptunes, Rihanna, and Just Blaze. Coming back from his 2003 "retirement", Jay proved he still had critical and commercial power with a number of successful releases, including the cross-genre Collision Course with Linkin Park, and the mega-hit Watch The Throne collaboration with Kanye West. On Kanye's 'Diamonds From Sierra Leone', Jay famously rapped "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man." In reality, he's both. As founder of Roc Nation, Roc Nation Sports, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, and owner of the 40/40 Club, Jay has established a vast business empire. He's just launched Tidal, a new streaming service that promises better audio quality and exclusive music. Controversy over costs aside, Tidal is a demonstration of Jay's clout within the industry – the likes of Madonna, Daft Punk, Rihanna, and Kanye West all support the venture. The pair perform live and direct, with the breakbeat evoking the old school days of freestyling. In a Q&A with Shout 4 Music, MC M.I explained where the track came from, "'Heavy Artillery', lyrically, is one of those verses that I have in my arsenal. As an MC you have to have verses in the stash." This freestyle series comes ahead of their new album Avant Garde, which will be released on their own Six2Six Records label on May 12th.
