Everyone but Coach Darrell Hazell was surprised when, in the middle of the draft, Hazell slipped a head shot of Jordan Jurasevich onto the projector. Its header was written in gold sharpie, "Supple- mental draft." Then it relayed news that Jurasevich, a senior walk-on tight end, would be awarded a scholarship for 2015-16. The main team meeting room inside Mollenkopf burst into ap- plause and cheers as nearly every player and coach in the room — and it was full of them — shot up from their cushy seats in response. Some players, like fellow tight end Cole Herdman, raced to the front of the room where Jurasevich was seated with other seniors on the Black team, to give him a hug. And though that moment was relatively early on in the draft — four positions had been chosen already — it was the premiere one for Jurasevich. "Shocked," he said when asked after the draft what he was feeling. "There's no other word to say. I'm still in shock, really. Seventy-one Purdue student-athletes received Academic recognition eclipsing last fall's total of 64 and 2012's total of 46. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners, in at least their second year at their institution and carry a grade- point average of at least 3.0. Women's cross country was second only to football with number of honorees with 19. Women's soccer followed with 16, men's cross country had 11 members recognized and the volleyball team had five.
