If you look closely, ghosts of the previous inhabit- ants can be seen imposed in the wood—hoof marks from kicking horses. Original water and feed troughs were repurposed as sink basins, and hay rack bars are now shelves. Scratching posts have found new life as handles, and metal hitching rings function as towel holders. "e fact that we were able to retain so much of the building's history is something to be proud of," Scott said. "e mix of the old characteristics with the modern refurbishment makes for a dramatic place. It seemed fitting to turn the home of Lovely Cottage into a lovely cottage for someone else to call home." >> One of the cottage's three bedrooms, which boasts an en suite bathroom. Ultra-modern amenities are balanced against charming original details such as corner feed troughs repurposed into bathroom sinks.
